Funeral services for Laurel D. Fry, who died at his home in Chanute last Thursday, were held yesterday at the home, and the body brought to Emporia for interment. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery at 6 o'clock last evening.
Laurel Fry was born January 27, 1887, in Cowley County, Kansas. He had lived in Emporia the greater part of his life. He began working for the Santa Fe as a caller at the age of 16, and had worked for this company continuously since. He went to Chanute from Argentine six years ago, and had been general foreman in the roundhouse there.
Mr. Fry was married to Effie May Sickler, of Emporia, June 15, 1910. Mrs. Fry, with their two children, Mildred, 6 years old, and Florris, 3 years old, survive. He leaves also his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Fry, of Emporia; brothers, Andrew Fry, who is in France, Alvin Fry, of Newton, and one brother and five sisters in Emporia.
