Gervais Baillio. Jr., was born in Rapides Parish, Louisiana (on Rosalie Plantation), on October 28, 1833, according; to the Bible Records. He died in Alexandria, Louisiana on September 13, 1886. He was educated at Bardstown, Kentucky, and is said to have been quite a literary scholar. He contributed many interesting articles to the press, writing under the name of "Jack Horner". His family is said to have spent many enjoyable hours together reading Shakespeare, Dickens, etc. For many years he managed Rosalie Plantation in Rapides Parish for his father. He served in the Confederate Army in the engineer corps during the Civil War. An account of his death appeared in the LOUISIANA DEMOCRAT of September 15, 1886. Mr. Baillio married Elizabeth Morgan of Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
