Hazel Mae Neff was born on February 19, 1929, in Davenport, the daughter of Herbert and Florence (Mohring) Neff. She was united in marriage to George A. Broughton on April 12, 1947. He preceded her in death in June 1993.
Mrs. Broughton worked for many years at Kmart in the food service and deli department, retiring in August 1992. She was a 50-year member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport, a 17-year active member of CASI, a member of YM-YWCA, and a 10-year member of AMP. She enjoyed line-dancing, water aerobics, and most especially spending time with her family.
Surviving members of the family include two daughters, Cheryl (James) Harksen of Sebastian, Fla., and Eva Leatherman of Bettendorf; three sons, Dennis (Beverly) Broughton of Blue Grass, Harry (Anna) Broughton of Gladstone, Ill., and Bryan (Leanna) Broughton of Davenport; two sisters, Betty Gott of Davenport, and Rosemary Peters of Rock Island; one brother, Robert (Methel) Neff of Davenport; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Debra and Tonya, a granddaughter, Kimberly, two grandsons, David and Danny, and a sister, Barbara.
