After a protracted illness from a complication of diseases, Charles G. Carl died at his home in York, Wednesday afternoon, December 17, at 1 o'clock, aged 48 years, 8 months and 4 days. He had been under treatment at the White Pine Sanitarium, Mt. Alto, for some time.
The deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Carl, and was born in Mountpleasant township, Adams county, and when a boy came with his parents to Hanover. In politics Mr. Carl was a Republican, and took an active part in the interests of his party. In 1903 he was elected assessor of the Third ward of Hanover, which position he filled in a faithful manner. For some time he was engaged in manufacturing cigars; four years ago he discontinued the business and moved to York.
He is survived by his wife, whose maiden name was Miss Sarah Bankert, and one son, George Carl, who resides in Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters as follows: Daniel Carl, of Porters; William Carl, Martin Carl and Miss Louisa Carl, residing in Hanover; Mrs. Jacob Miller, of Two Taverns, Adams county, and Mrs. Alice Topper, of York.
Mr. Carl was a member of Minnewaukaru Tribe No. 250, I. O. R. M., of this place, and of the local Order of Moose; also, of the Cigarmakers Union of York.
