The day of birth on the marker is not correct. The day was corrected to the 24th on the Headstone Application. The 24th is also found on his W.W. II Draft Card and a couple of U.S., Border Crossings from Canada to the U.S.

Corporal Burnett was a member of the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on July 20, 1950 and died while a prisoner on August 31, 1950. Corporal Burnett was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
