Edwin Dale Record, 68, Michigantown rt. 1, died at 6:30 a.m. today (November 12, 1980) in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, after a 10-day illness.

A lifelong resident of Clinton County, he was a county commissioner from 1962-1970 and a Michigan Township trustee. He also served on the hospital board.

He retired from the Frankfort Times as assistant circulation manager. He had also worked as a telephone lineman and ran a coal, fertilizer, and greenhouse business in Michigantown. He was president of the Michigantown Community Club for three years and received their Outstanding Citizen award.

He grew dahlias, showing and judging them throughout the Midwest. He was vice-president of the American Dahlia Society. He was an elder and Sunday school teacher at the Michigantown Christian Church for more than 30 years. He belonged to the Beard Masonic Lodge No. 641 and was a past master of the lodge. He was a member of York Rite Bodies and received the 33rd Degree York Cross of Honor. He was also a member of the order of the Eastern Star and received the Past Patron award.

He was born in Warren Township on September 20, 1912, to Owen and Grace (Crum) Record. He married Enid Quick on December 31, 1932, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ray of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and James of Alexandria, Louisiana; two daughters, Arlene Harshbarger of Kokomo and Barbara Woodhull of Cedar Springs, Michigan; one sister, Lucille Suite of Frankfort; one brother, Gilbert Record of Frankfort rt. 4, and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Goodwin Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Edwards and the Rev. James Sennett will officiate. Burial will be in Whiteman Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-9 p.m. tomorrow. Masonic services will be at the Beard Lodge at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.
