Benedetto was 23 & single when died while working as a cage tender at the Pewabic Mine. He was killed instantly when going up in the cage, he became caught in the timbers & was torn off the cage, where he fell to the bottom of the mine shaft.

At the Pewabic mine, about noon, Benedetto Angeloni, a cage tender, was instantly killed while going up on the skip in No. 1 Shaft. He was with 2 other men, whom he had just told “I won’t be out after supper. I ran a nail in my finger yesterday.” His co-worker said when the cage was up about 60 feet in the shaft, he started slipping & was caught by the timbers & torn off the skip. Angeloni fell to the bottom of the shaft, about 60 feet & was dead when the men reached him.
Angeloni, was Italian, 23 & single.
