James Leroy Johnson, 86, of Bartlett, died November 1, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

He retired from SouthCentral Bell after 40 years of service.

He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and the Love Worth Finding Sunday School class, an AT&T Pioneer Life Member and a member of Unity Masonic Lodge #95.

Mr. Johnson was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Army Infantry, 25th Division where he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with Bronze Battle Star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Battle Star and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Moyes Johnson; his children, James L. Johnson, Jr. (Lynda) of Knoxville, TN, Nancy Rouse (Frank) of Memphis and John Malcolm Johnson of Bartlett; his sister, Elizabeth Smith of Valdosta, GA; seven grand-children and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Bellevue Baptist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
