ENFIELD, CT - Lorraine Rita Catena, 88, of Enfield, she was the beloved wife, of 52 years to Raymond S. Catena and the daughter of the late Charles A. and Ora V. (Beauregard) Cape, completed her journey in this life on Sunday (October 28, 2012), surrounded by loved ones. Lorraine was born in Ludlow, MA but grew up in the Northampton area. After completing high school, she went onto join the US Army, and proudly served from 1945-1951 (during WW II). She was stationed in Salzburg, Austria, where she met and married her late husband, Raymond S. Catena in 1951. They then moved, and built their home in Enfield. Lorraine worked at Baldwin, Simon & Campbell, and St. Paul's Insurance Co. until her retirement in the early 90's. She thought of life as an adventure and her zest for life was incredible. She enjoyed dancing, and was known to have done a mean jitterbug in her day. She also liked going for drives in their Aston Martin or Caddie. She loved traveling, and the outdoors, working in the yard or sitting in the sun. She had a passion for animals especially dogs, and was a loving dog sitter. She was affectionately known as "Auntie" or "Sweet little Lorraine" to many and will be greatly missed for her kind, gentle soul, and spark for life. She was a great Lady, friend, and neighbor. Lorraine leaves behind several nieces and nephews, Chris Cape and companion Faith and son, Eddie of Chester, NJ; Andrew Cape of China; Claire and Gerald Benoit of Agawam, MA; John and Margaret Catena of San Antonio, TX and David Arel and Steven Benoit of Agawam, MA, along with very special friends, Nancy, Ken and Michael Middleton, Michele, Rick and Chelsea Allard, John and Lona McGurn and Nancy Conway. She is predeceased by her sisters, Ora Mae Arel, Grace Granger, Claire Bertrand, Geraldine Stewart and Irene Goodreau, and brothers, Russell and Earl Cape. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday (November 3, 2012) at 1:00 p.m. at the Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 322 N. Maple St. Enfield, CT. Burial will be private in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
