Anneda M. Platzer, a civic, social, and church activist, died Oct. 16 [1985] while visiting a neighborhood friend. She suddenly felt a great pain in her side. An ambulance was called and she was rushed to St. Luke's hospital, where she succumbed. She was 79.

Born in Arlington, SD, she came to Proctor in 1927. She had been a nurse at St. Luke's hospital and was the widow of Dr. Harold Platzer, who had been Proctor's dentist for more than 40 years and who was organizer and director of Proctor's air wardens during World War II.

Four sons are among her survivors, John D. of Proctor; Harold L. of Gettysburg, PA; William J. of New Brighton, MN; and Gerald Goerts Platzer of International Falls; a sister Bernice Larson of Arlington, SD; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Rose, Saturday, with the Rev. James Crossman officiating. Interment was in Oneota Cemetery, with arrangements by Bell Brothers.
