Mrs. S.B. Persinger Dies at Residence; Funeral Is Today

Mrs. S.B. Persinger, 70, of 806 Maple St., member of a pioneer Floyd family died suddenly Saturday at 5:30 a.m. at the residence. Mrs. Persinger had operated the Southern Depot Café for the past 30 years.

The former Miss LaVicie McClain, she was born in Rome, Dec. 21, 1886, daughter of Mrs. Florence Lloyd McClain and the late R.E. McClain, having spent her entire life in Rome. Mrs. Persinger was a member of the Rome First Baptist Church. Her husband, S.B. Persinger, died April 19, 1941.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Lam, Rome; the mother, Mrs. R.E. McClain, Rome; six sisters, Mrs. J.P. Sims, Rome, [Florence] Mrs. A.K. Holland, Rome, [Roberta] Mrs. Arthur Word, Rome, Mrs. Ben Hawkins, Decatur, Ga., Mrs. Quilian Boozer, Conley, Mrs. Miriam Pace, Montgomery, Ala.; one granddaughter, Miss Linda LaVicie Lam, Rome; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at the chapel of the Daniel Funeral Home with the Rev. Forrest Lanier, pastor of the Rome First Baptist Church, officiating, and burial is to follow in the family lot of Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are J.P. Reeves, George Shellnut, John Westmoreland, Frank Gentry, L. Landers, and M.S. Skelton.
