The people who are currently living in the house confirm that the two tombstones are now in Old Riverside Cemetery, Moline- one for a JOEL WELLS stone about 2' high and 18-20 inches wide read JOEL WELLS with the J backwards, Died Aug. 25, 1856 aged 55 years, 7 months, 17 days. The other stone PERRY H. WELLS was larger and more elaborate 4' high by 15" wide and read Died Oct. 10, 1853, aged 22 years, 7 months, 28 days. Both stones were on the property where the house stands and were left in their original setting until part of the farm was rented, a fence erected, etc. About 10 years ago the stones were moved into a building and eventually moved to Old Riverside Cemetery in Moline even though their bodies remain buried on the family farm.
