C. Blaine Mathias, 93, of Shade Gap R.D., died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 1978, in the Guilford Convalesarium at Fayetteville. He had been in failing health for three weeks.

Born Aug. 17, 1894, in Dublin Twp., he was the son of William H. and Rachel (Gallaher) Mathias. He married Lillie Mae Mills of Shade Gap on Feb. 2, 1946, at the Methodist parsonage in Wooster, Ohio. His wife died on Aug. 18, 1967.

Surviving are two foster children: Mrs. Leona M. Miller of Erlanger, Ky., and Donald E. Crotsley of Arlington, Va. There are six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers also survive: Roy Mathias of Burnt Cabins and Bruce Mathias of Shade Gap R.D. Four brothers are deceased.

Mr. Mathias was a member of the Shade Gap Presbyterian Church.

A carpenter by trade, he belonged to Local No. 142 of the Carpenters' Union for 76 years. He also was a life member of BPOE Lodge No. 386, Apollo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 2, from the Raymond W. Ott Funeral Home, Orbisonia. The Rev. R. Bruce Shannon, his pastor, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap R.D.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday and until the hour of the service on Friday.
