John Newton LOCKE, 71, of S. Second Street, Chambersburg, died at 8 p.m.
Friday, May 18, 2001, at his home. Born Feb. 2, 1930, in Dublin
Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Harry S. and
Dessie Mae (Clymans) Locke. He is survived by a son, Mark Kenneth Locke
of Albuquerque, N.M.. and three sisters: Edna Keller, Chambersburg;
Edith Plummer, Stoughton, Wis.; and Betty Tamer, Chambersburg. Three
brothers and one sister are deceased. Mr. Locke was of the Protestant
faith. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Charles
Nitterhouse VFW Post No. 1599, and the Burt J. Asper American Legion
Post No. 46, both of Chambersburg. In his early years, he was a sawmill
worker and later retired from Letterkenny Army Depot on disability.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at
Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Shade Gap, R.D., with the Rev.
Ronald Cook officiating. Interment will be made in Pleasant Hill
Cemetery.
