ROBERT "BOB" PALMER
February 5, 1957 - October 25, 2012
Barstow, California

Our beloved Bob, at the age of 55, entered eternal life on October 25, 2012. Born February 5, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was raised in Cincinnati until he was 18 years of age, graduating from La Salle High School in 1975. As a youth he worked for a soda vendor, and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1976, moving up to the rank of Staff Sergeant while working with their nuclear weapons systems. He was stationed at Minot, North Dakota and Grissom, Indiana, and continued his service honorably until 1992. As a civilian, Bob continued his work for the Department of Defense at Goldstone, as a security professional for 13 years. He lived and made his home in Barstow for the past 24 years. When not working he enjoyed bowling, playing poker and collecting coins. He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds, and had a fondness for food from La Rosas and White Castle. He was a John Wayne and Jamie Lee Curtis movie fan, with favorites on TV like NCIS and watching one of his special military movies like Full Metal Jacket. Bob was kind, open-hearted, caring, thoughtful and selfless to all that knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was intelligent, righteous, strong-minded and honest in all of his lifeÕs dealings. But most importantly, Bob loved and treasured his time with family, making sure their well being was always taken care of. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Eva Palmer of Barstow; sons, Jason Palmer (his wife Carrie) of Barstow and Justin Palmer of Los Angeles; a daughter, Katie Palmer of Barstow; sisters, Cheryl Palmer of Ohio, Tapra Phillips-Palmer of Kentucky and Lisa Brockman-Adams of Indiana; a brother, Donald C. Brockman Jr. of Indiana; and a dad, Donald C. Brockman Sr. of Indiana. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his mom, Patricia Brockman. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 2790 Barstow Road in Barstow. A Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday November 1, 2012, with Funeral Service at 6 p.m. on Friday November 2, 2012, with a reception to follow. Bob will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery, in Riverside, CA. Arrangements entrusted to Horizon Memorial Services of Barstow. Published in the Daily Press on November 1, 2012.
