Died at 9:10 a.m., Saturday, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Alexandria, aged 47. Native of Loranger and resident of 3164 Amarillo, Baton Rouge. Was a welder and veteran of World War II. Body will be at Hollabaugh-Spindle Parlors until 1:30 p.m. Monday. Religious services at Douglas Avenue Baptist Church, at 2 p.m., Monday, conducted by Rev. J. F. Stanford, with interment in the Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Survived by his wife, Mrs. Earline Gerstein; one son, Fred Allen Gerstein Jr.; two daughters: Mrs. Woody (Helen) Pence and Mrs. John F. (Patricia) Williams, both of Baton Rouge; five sisters: Mrs. Doris Bankston, Baton Rouge; Mrs. Louis Wall, Mrs. Freda Samuels, Mrs. Johnny Champlain and Mrs. Marie Puls, all of Loranger; one brother, F. E. Gerstein, Norfolk, Va.

Member of Douglas Avenue Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
