Matthew was the son of John and Mary Pendergrass Lunsford he was married to Hettie Mae Holloway.

Matthew Bascom Lunsford, 69, died Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at his home in the Crowders Creek section. He had been in failing health for the past year and a half. He was a native of Cherokee county.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hettie Lunsford; two sons, C. J. and Clifton Lunsford of R-3; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Spivey of R-I and Mrs. Lena Spivey of the home; one brother, W. M. Lunsford of Gastonia; one sister, Mrs. Polly Wilson of Marble; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Modena Street Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The pastor, Rev. W. A. Costner will conduct the services. Burial will be in Armstrong Memorial cemetery.

Carothers Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
