John Scott McColl
Another esteemed and respected resident of Georgetown,in the person of John S. McColl, passed away at his home here last Thursday evening August 14th. Deceased was a son of the late Duncan McColl and Helen Scott McColl, and was born in Esquesing, where he resided until some few years ago, when he retired and moved to town. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Margaret Thornton, who has the sympathy of her many friends; also three brothers; Dougald McColl, Georgetown; Dr. Hugh McColl, Milton, and Dr Charles McColl, Wyandotte, Mich. Dr. James Lindsay of Limehouse, who practised many years in Guelph, and passed away only a few weeks ago, was a cousin, as was also Angus McColl, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, British Columbia. Deceased was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church for many years, but a little over five years ago became a member of the United church. He was a Liberal in politics, a good citizen and kind and obliging neighbour who will be missed in the community. The funeral took place oon Monday afternoon to Greenwood Cemetery, the service being conducted by his pastor Rev. Mr. Rumley. the pall-bearers were J.R. Lindsay, John Leslie, J.D. Godfrey, Geo. Robinson, Wm. Ashenhurst and Ward Ruddell.
