Actual name may be William Creed Brogan. This listing is being done with first name as Creed so as to not confuse researchers who believe his name to be simply, Creed.

Enlisted as a Private in Company B, 42 Virginia Infantry on 8 March 1862 at Floyd Courthouse, Virginia. Saw action in the Battle of Gettysburg and was captured following an ankle injury on July 4, 1863. Sent to Ft. McHenry, Maryland and paroled. Then sent to Ft, Delaware, Delaware where he was paroled until exchanged on 28 September 1864. Transferred to Aiken's Landing, Virginia for exchange on 30 September 1864. Exchanged near Ft. Lee, Virginia on 12 October 1864. Received at Wayside Hospital or General Hospital No. 9, Richmond, Virginia on 14 October 1864.

Creed's brother, Robert Brogan, also in Company B, 42 Virginia Infantry, memorial number 10600603, was also captured at Gettysburg and died of typhoid fever at Ft. Delaware on 3 September 1863.
