Wilma Christine Johnson, 95, formerly of Home, KS, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Bethany Home, Lindsborg, KS.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 6, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, at the Salem Lutheran Church, Axtell, KS. Rev. Mark Rich will officiate.

Shirley Polson will play the organ while the congregation will sing "Borning Cry", "Lord Take My Hand", and "Softly and Tenderly."

The pallbearers will be Randy Johnson, Marlin Johnson, Kendra Beasley, Kara Johnson, Eric Johnson, Aaron White and Chris Beasley.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Wilma was born on September 22, 1917 on the family farm a few miles south of Vliets, KS, to Solomon "S.B." and Mary "Marie" (Hanson) Heisey. She was the fourth of four children. In 1935, she graduated from Frankfort High School. She attended Normal Training Course at Marysville and then attended Emporia Teachers College, now Emporia State University. Wilma taught in rural Kansas schools for six years.

On August 2, 1942, Wilma married Martin G. Johnson. Over the years, they lived in a variety of places in northeast Kansas before settling in Home, KS. Wilma was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Marshall County Historical Society. Wilma enjoyed her sons activities and visiting with family and friends. Wilma maintained the family home after Martin's death in 1987 until 2004, when she moved to Bethany Home where she received kind and excellent care.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband; infant son, Kirk Kendall Johnson; sister, Marno Engler; and brothers, Wesley and Stanley Heisey.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Marlin (Maurine) Johnson, and Randy (Laurie) Johnson; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church and can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
