Pioneer broadcast journalist. Began broadcasting minor league baseball on radio in 1938. Best known as sports anchor at WFMY-TV Greensboro, 1949–1963, 1977–1988; and WGHP-TV High Point, 1963–1977. Worked for ACC television network, both basketball and football. Called college football on radio for a number of schools for 30 years. Hosted popular syndicated NASCAR radio show, Racing Roundup. Author of books and articles on sports. Graduate of High Point College.
