"Mrs Susan Elizabeth Hill was born in Cass County, Ill. on July 29, 1835, and died in this city Sunday, March 7. She had lived in Kansas since 1856 with the exception of 3 years, and has made many friends here who mourn her loss. She was one of a family of ten children and her only surviving sister is Mrs John Dowell. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church Tuesday morning, conducted by Reverends McGuire and Fisher, after which she was buried in Grand Prairie Cemetery. The beautiful flowers that were sent spoke of the esteem in which she was held by her neighbors and many friends."
