It is with the greatest respect and undying love that we surrender our mother, Sarah Mary Robinson, into the hands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Sarah, a native of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2001 at age 92.

Sarah was one of eight children born to Féderico Chávez and Josefa Saavedra, offspring of New Mexico's founding Chávez clan.
Siblings included Leo G. Chavez, Victoriana Welter, Fred Chavez, Eliza Baca, former local bandleader, Don Lesmen Chavez, Adele Faucett and Anne Deeble.
Sarah was an alumnus of Albuquerque High School, Class of 1928 and a graduate of St. Joseph's College. Sarah amassed her M.A. equivalency at UNM. Sarah's professional life spanned 38 years devoted to the children of Albuquerque, having taught second grade for Albuquerque Public Schools. The schools she tenured in included the original A. Montoya School in Tijeras, Alameda, Atrisco, Stronghurst, Riverview, Coronado and finally, Dolores Gonzales Elementary School from where she retired in 1975. Her avocations were teaching reading and folkloric Mexican dance.
After retirement, Sarah learned to paint beautifully but still continued to work with children by substituting at several local elementary schools for an additional five years.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation for their love, compassion and professional care provided by Emily Candelaria of Home Instead Senior Care, Althea McAneny of Lovelace Home Healthcare, Linda Lamansky and Kathy Swanegan of Lovelace Hospice Care.
