James Ethell Kilgore

James Ethell Kilgore of Webb passed away June 10, 2008, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center while surrounded by loving family and friends. He was 85.
Funeral services to celebrate Mr. Kilgore's life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home in Ashford with the Minister Rickey Epps and the Minister Bobby Gayton officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Enon Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Enon Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, or to the Church of Christ Hymnal Fund at 1366 Enon Road, Webb.
A friendly, loving Christian, Mr. Kilgore was born in Houston County on Oct. 28, 1922, to James Robert and Willie Mae Kilgore. He was a devoted and very active member of Enon Church of Christ, where he served as song leader for many years as well as elder and deacon. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and European Theater during World War II. After military service he worked with Ingram Vault Co. and later retired after working 35 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a charter member of the Ashford Lions Club where he was active for many years. He was an active member of the Ashford Senior Citizens Center and an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Callie Mae Ingram Kilgore; son, James C. Kilgore and wife, Annetta; daughter, Ruth Kilgore Granberry; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Gilbert Kilgore and wife, Joann of Greenwood, S.C.; sister, Blondell Cross of Dothan; and sister, Allie M. Knowles of Webb. He had several beloved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be members of Enon Church of Christ.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Ashford Lions Club.
