MRS. MARY DETTINGER DIED AT VERA CRUZ
A Well Known Vera Cruz Lady Suddenly Passed Away at Her Home

Mrs. Mary Dettinger, an aged resident of Vera Cruz, passed away at midnight Saturday night from a sudden attack of heart trouble. She had been subject to spells with her heart for some time and was suddenly stricken at ten o'clock the night of her death and died two hours later.
The deceased was born September 4, 1833, in Stuttgart, Germany, and was a little past 85 years of age at the time of her death. She came with her parents to this country in 1857. She was married July 1, 1857, to John G. Dettinger, and they located in Ohio until 1886, when they moved to a farm in French township, Adams County. In 1897 they moved to Vera Cruz, and lived there since. Mr. Dettinger died December 12, 1908.
Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Dettinger, of whom eleven are living, as follows: Mrs. Margaret E. Markley, living at 419 South Morgan Street, this city; Mrs. Eliza Lobsiger, of Vera Cruz; Mrs. Christina Liniger, of Preble; Jacob Dettinger, of Bluffton; Charles Dettinger, of Magley; Mrs. Caroline Hower of Craigville; Samuel Dettinger, of Fargo, North Dakota; Mrs. Marry Brock, of Marion; Mrs. Rosa Wolf of Marion; Wilson Dettinger, of Magley; and Mrs. George T. Albright of Fort Wayne. John Dettinger, a son, is deceased. A large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Dettinger was a member of the Evangelical church at Vera Cruz and was always faithful to her christian duties.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, the services being held at the home because of the prevalence of the influenza. Burial will be at the Vera Cruz cemetery.

FUNERAL OF MRS. MARY DETTINGER

DECATUR, Ind. Dec. 10 - The funeral of Mrs. Mary Dettinger, 85, who died at her home at Vera Cruz after a short illness, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home at Vera Cruz. Surviving eleven children are: Margaret Markley, Vera Cruz; Mrs. Ben Liniger, Preble; Mrs. John Lobsiger, Monroe; David Dettinger, Bluffton; Mrs. Dayton Hower, Craigville; Mrs. Mary Brock, Mrs. Rosa Wolfe, Marion; Samuel Dettinger, North Dakota; Wilson Dettinger, Kirkland township; Emma Umphrey, Bluffton; and Charles Dettinger, Magley.
