Obit for Mrs. Cook:

Widow of Oak Park Pioneer F. W. Cook, Dies
Mrs. Ida Fowler Cook, wife of one of Oak Park's pioneer residents, died May 16 in Westlake hospital, Melrose Park. Mrs. Cook was the wife of the late F. W. Cook, prominent awning, tent and leather goods merchant in Chicago for many years.
Mrs. Cook was born in Summerville, near Niles, Mich., September 13, 1856, the daughter of the late James Loren Fowler and Emoline Reese Fowler. After spending most of her childhood days in Michigan, she came to Chicago before the Chicago fire and lived with her mother and three brothers. Her father passed away in 1858.
At the age of 23 she married Mr. Cook and they resided on the north side of Chicago for almost four years, then came to Oak Park and built their home on Forest avenue, which is still standing at the head of Ontario street. Five children were born to them at this residence-and two were born while they resided in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Cook were members of the First Methodist church, which was then located at Lake street and Forest. After Mr. Cook's retirement, he and Mrs. Cook traveled, spending their winters either in Florida or California and the summer months were spent on the east coast. Mr. Cook died July 5, 1924, after which time Mrs. Cook divided her time among her children.
Surviving are six children, Charles R. of Martinez, Calif., Frank L. of Arcadia, Calif., Frederick William of South Pasadena, Sarah E. Kannenberg of Santa Ana, Calif., James L. of San Diego and Ida Cook Daniels of Melrose Park, III., 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The Rev. Morrison C. Galloway, pastor of First Methodist church, Maywood, officiated at services Friday afternoon at Senne chapel, Maywood, and interment was in the family lot in Forest Home.
