STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Julia A. Vallas Pachomski, 88, of Eltingville, a retired auditor and a Mets fan, died Friday in Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Castleton Corners. She had entered the nursing home several weeks ago.

The former Julia Walling was born in Brooklyn and lived much of her life there. She moved to Eltingville in 1977.

A financial auditor, Mrs. Pachomski worked for the Dime Savings Bank, Brooklyn, for 20 years. She retired in 1984.

She was a parishioner of Holy Child R.C. Church, Eltingville.

Mrs. Pachomski followed the New York Mets with great enthusiasm, her family said. She always did crossword puzzles in ink and always completed them. She liked to read mysteries and thrilllers.

"She was very witty," said her granddaughter, Lisa D'Avanzo, "and she had a great sense of humor."

Her first husband, Bernard Vallas, died in 1987. Her second husband, Harry Pachomski, died in 1991.

She is survived by a son, Steven Vallas; a daughter, Kathleen D'Avanzo; three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be Saturday from the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Eltingville, with a mass at 11 a.m. in Holy Child Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway, N.J.
