BARTONVILLE - Willard Joseph 'Shorty' Holman, 84, of Oswego, formerly of 301 Harrison, Bartonville, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2000, at his residence.

Born April 24, 1916, in Beecher City to Earl ''Doc'' and Lela Baird Holman, he married Pauline Kepling in 1941 in Peoria. He later married Vivian Mutchler in 1958 in Peoria. She died July 6, 1998, in Bartonville.

Surviving are two daughters, Melody (and Kenneth) Gray of Oswego and Judy (and Elmer) Eddy of Plainfield; one son, Roger of Olney, Md.; one stepson, Richard (and Pam) Schaefer of Cary, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Pamela (and Alain) LeMaire of Pekin and JoAnn McCaskey of Bartonville; two half brothers, J.B. of Farmington, N.M., and Dugan of Beecher City; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

A former member and past president of the United Auto Workers Local 1987, he was a journeyman machinist for L.R. Nelson for 15 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Bartonville Civil Defense and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Graveside services will be at noon Thursday at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
