Mrs Alice M. Brown, 85, of 2204 NW Park, a pioneer resident of Kansas and Oklahoma, died Monday in Mercy Hospital, following a five week illness. Mrs Brown was sister of the late Gen. Charles F. Barrett, state adjutant general.

She was born in Crawford Co, OH, and as a child moved with her family to Greenleaf, KS, where she married the late Lewis J. Brown. They came to Oklahoma in 1891 and homesteaded at Perry when the Cherokee Strip was opened. He was a druggist and postmaster at Olustee before statehood and was a building contractor here before his death in 1938. She was a member of Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church.

She is survived by four sons, L. R. Brown, Electra, TX; Guy Brown, 1208 SW 30; Clifford Brown, home address; and Wayne Brown, McAlester; two daughters, Mrs Goldie Cecil, Abilene, TX; and Mrs Nadine Hill, 102 NW 24; a brother, W. K. Barrett, Los Angeles; daughter-in-law, Mrs Betty Brown, NW 45 & Jewell; 21 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
