STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Longtime Bulls Head resident Fortunato (Chubby) Quinto, 76, a retired NYPD officer who was devoted to his family, died Sunday in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, N.J.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mr. Quinto moved to Bulls Head in 1959 and lived there until six years ago, when he relocated to Dayton, N.J.

He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Mr. Quinto was an NYPD officer, assigned to the 68th Precinct in Brooklyn, and later the Manhattan Warrant Squad. He retired in 1978.

He most enjoyed being an integral part of his children's and grandchildren's lives.

Mr. Quinto also liked playing bocce, fishing, and woodworking.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Sarafina Perilli; his son, Salvatore; his daughters, Ann Taylor and Lorraine Quadrato; his sister, Phyllis Denigris, and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be Friday from the Matthew Funeral Home, Willowbrook, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in our Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church, Bulls Head. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
