JACOB Harvey Sandy, 99, of Rt. 5, Staunton died Saturday at his home.

He was a retired farmer and carpenter. During World War ii, he helped build numerous federal government installations, including shipbuilding yards in Norfolk and the Radford arsenal.

Mr. Sandy was born Sept. 12, 1886, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late William J. and Frances Crumb Sandy.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Churchville and had served on the church council and been Sunday school superintendent.

Mr. Sandy was a member of the Churchville Men's Chorus and a charter member of the Churchville Ruritan Club.

He was married to Nora Hodge Sandy, who died Sept. 24, 1976. He is survived by five sons and three daughters, 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bear Funeral Chapel at Churchville by the Rev. James A. Roepke. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery at Churchville.
