Son of Silas B Seymour & Bettie Bartlett. Husband of Hilda Montague Daniels (ma. 06 Aug 1944).

Dennis Joseph Seymour, Sr., 91, of 137 Seymour Drive, Camden, NC died Monday, September 24, 2012 at his home. Born in Camden, NC, he was the son of the late Silas B. Seymour, Sr. and Bettie Bartlett Seymour and was the husband of Hilda Daniels Seymour of the home. Mr. Seymour was a member of Camden United Methodist Church where he was past Chairman of the Administrative Board and was a lifetime member of the choir. He had served as the Soil and Conservation Chair from 1963 to 1970, Camden County Commissioner from 1970 to 1974 and Farm Bureau Chair for three years. Mr. Seymour was a member of Widow's Son Lodge #75 AF & AM and the North Carolina Potato Association of which he was President in 1969. An avid sportsman with a passion for baseball, golf and fishing, he was a member of the Carolina Club and a former member of Pine Lakes Country Club.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Seymour is survived by two sons, Dennis Joseph Seymour, Jr. and wife Linda of Kill Devil Hills, NC and David C. Seymour of Camden, NC; two grandchildren, Joseph Michael Seymour and wife Kelly and their children, Sarah and Anna, and Charles Edward Seymour and his daughter, Amber; longtime friend Horace Lee Bogues; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Marvin and Hilda Seymour, Fannie and Wilse Leary, Mable and William Games, Margaret and Vernon Bray, Alma and Robert Spence, S.B. Seymour, Sr. and Mot, and Ervin Seymour and his wife Janice who survives him of Camden, NC; and his longtime friend, Clay Ferebee.

A memorial service will take place Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Camden United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Moehring officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Camden United Methodist Church Building Fund, 188 Highway 343 South, Camden, NC 27921. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and at all other times at the residence. Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Seymour family. Condolences may be expressed to the family at
