William Waverly Early, 34, South Norfolk man injured in an automobile mishap late Thursday night on Route 13 near the toll free bridge, remained unconscious in a critical condition in St. Vincent's Hospital last night.
Early was found lying in the middle of the concrete highway about 40 feet from his automobile by members of the Portlock Fire Department. Fire Chief J.B. Gibson said Early was thrown through the cloth top of the automobile when something apparently went wrong mechanically and the automobile turned over. Gibson said the trouble may have been in the steering apparatus, and added that a rear tire was flat.
