Franklin Columbus "Frank" Boyles was born on Apr. 7, 1871 on a farm in Laurel Hill, Lincoln Co., North Carolina. He was the son of Rev. Marcus Wrightman "M. W." Boyles (1842-1892) and Susannah Alice "Susan" Wood (1846-1895, the fourth of their ten known children. Frank's parents lived their entire lives in North Carolina and are buried in the Lexington City Cemetery in Lexington, Davidson Co., NC.

Frank's father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Rev. John Boyles II (1768-1843), were all old-time Methodist Episcopal (M.E.) circuit rider preachers.

Frank's father, Marcus was the son of Rev. Josiah Adolphus Boyles (1816-1894) and Anna Elizabeth "Annie" Yount (1819-1905), both born in Lincoln Co., NC. They died in Morganton, Burke Co., NC where they are buried in the Salem Methodist Church Cemetery.

Frank's mother, Susan, was born in or near Lincolnton, Lincoln Co., NC. She was the daughter of John Henry Wood (1810-1891) and Elizabeth Catherine "Katie" Bess (1818-1900), also born in Lincoln County. Both died in Lincolnton where they are buried in the Zion Methodist Church Cemetery.

On Apr. 15, 1913 Frank married Myrtle "Myrtie" Ham (1887-1968). Frank was 42, Myrtle 25. Born in Mt. Olive, Wayne Co., NC, Myrtie was the daughter of North Carolina natives, Henry T. Ham (1851-1916) and Lucy Cox (1857-1922). Both of Myrtie's parents died in Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC where they are buried in the Green Hill Cemetery.

Frank and Myrtie were married for 40 years and had one son, Richard Frank "Dick" Boyles (1915-2006). He was married to Mary Frances Johnson (1925- ) and is buried in the Green Hill Cemetery.

Frank was a banker and highly successful businessman. A long time member of the West Market Street Methodist Episcopal (M.E.) Church, it was written before his death that Frank C. Boyles "...has identified himself with the movements and organizations that best express the ideals of American citizenship in the matter of education, morals and religion."

Frank died on May 3, 1953 in Greensboro at the age of 84. He was buried in the Green Hill Cemetery.

Myrtie died on Mar. 21, 1968, also in Greensboro, at the age of 80. She too, was buried in the Green Hill Cemetery, next to her husband, Frank.
