He was a retired employee of (he Lynchburg Foundry Company.
He is survived by his wife. Melinda Janie Simpkins: eight sons. Frankie Lee Simpkins. Douglas William Simpkins. both of Radford. Jerry Wayne Simpkins. Denver Allen Simpkins. Thomas Eugene Simpkins. of Pilot. Exel Eugene Simpkins of Hiwassee. Arlie Kendall Simpkins. and Cecil Simpkins. both of Pulaski: six daughters. Eula Mae Meredith of Hiwassee. Kathryn Williams of Saginaw. Mich.. Barbara Sue Archer of Wytheville. Melinda Elaine Gallimore of Pulaski. Patricia Blackwell of Pilot. Betty Ann Flinchum of Blacksburg; one brother, Rod Simpkins of Vinton; one sister. Nita Lou Flinchum of Hiwassee: 37 grandchildren: and three great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday from the First Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Sam Franklin and the Rev. Billy Mack officiating. Interment will follow in the Pentecostal Conference Cemetery, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home.
