Gladys H. Graham, 85, of Fenelton died Sunday morning at the Melody Manor Personal Care Home in Kittanning.
Born Feb. 7, 1927, in Summit Township, she was a daughter of the late Linus S. "Len" and Clara Mary (Waltman) Geibel.
Gladys was a 1945 graduate of Butler High School, and worked as a secretary for Clearfield Township for 20 years. She also was an auditor for the township.
Along with her late husband Donald, Gladys owned and operated the County Line Tavern in Clearfield Township. She was the first woman to be legally permitted to tend bar there.
Gladys was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville and volunteered at the church to count donations.
She is survived by two children, her son, Merle J. (Cindy) Graham of Fenelton, and her daughter, Jean (Larry) Karenbauer of Stuart, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Graham of Fenelton; and five grandchildren, Jeff (Chris) Karenbauer, Erin (John) Bauer, Elizabeth Graham and Charles Zaludek, Stephanie (Michael) Taylor, and Michele (Michael) Witt.
Gladys also is survived by six great-grandchildren, Abigail Bauer, Zachary Bauer, Aubrey Taylor, Reed Taylor, Christian Witt and Alexander Witt. She was expecting another great-granddaughter in January.
In addition, four siblings survive her, Ernest S. Geibel of Butler, Pearl Hilderbrand of Chicora, Doris "Dede" Snyder of Butler, and Shirley (Eugene) Widenhofer of Butler along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Graham, whom she married Jan. 22, 1949. They were married until he died on Jan. 24, 1970.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Donald L. Graham; one grandson, Jason Karenbauer; and four brothers, Lavern "Barney" Geibel, Carl Geibel, Ronald Geibel and Merle Geibel.
GRAHAM - Friends of Gladys H. Graham, 85, who died Sunday morning, Oct. 28, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville.
Interment will follow in St. John's Parish Cemetery.
