Chelmer Lee Roy Barrow, 77, of Moberly went to live with his heavenly father, October 30, 2012, he was at North Village Park. Chelmer was born one of two sons, January 17, 1935 in Poplar Bluff, MO, to Jack and Marie (Meade) Barrow.
Chelmer graduated from Poplar Bluff High School, then went to St. Louis and graduated as a Medical Technician and an X-ray Technician. He then went to work at the Bonne Terre Hospital where he met and married Barbara Shannon on February 22, 1958.
In 1966 he moved with his family to Moberly where he worked and went to school to become a Hospital Administrator. He was the Administrator of Community Memorial Hospital for 12 years. As the hospitals here were becoming old, he went to work to obtain a new hospital for the community, Moberly Regional Medical Center.
He and his wife then went to work for themselves in the nursing home business for many years. He was the 23rd person in Missouri to obtain a Nursing Home Administrators License. His last employment was Assistant Administrator at North Village Park. He loved people and was active in community and state affairs. He was a Mason and and Ararat Shriner, Chairman of the Moberly Regional Medical Center Board, President of the Moberly Chamber of Commerce, where he was voted into the Hall of Fame in 1999, State Health Boards and was President of the Osteopathic Hospital Administration.
Chelmer was christened in the Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff and is a member, now for 46 years at Trinity United Methodist Church where he has served on the board. He enjoyed reading medical journals, playing the guitar, and being with his family, especially at Holiday Acres, where he could drive the boat and have cookouts. He also enjoyed his many years of vacation at Clearwater Beach, FL, with his family.
Surviving are his wife, a son, and his wife, a daughter, and her husband, four grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother Gene Barrow.
Memorial contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
Services were at Trinity United Methodist Church with committal prayers and entombment at the Good Shepherd Mausoleum in Oakland Cemetery.
