William J. Gilmore, 77, of Hunker, died Monday, April 22, 2002, in I.H.S. of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg. He was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Greensburg, a son of the late George and Margaret (Clark) Gilmore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Leighty; three brothers, Wilbur, Clarence and Donald Gilmore; and a sister, Ella Mae Seehoffer. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. (Colbert) Gilmore; a son, William E. Gilmore and wife, Rita A., of Youngwood; and two brothers, George Gilmore and wife, Margaret, of Youngwood and Robert Gilmore and wife, Essie, of Fairfield. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre, and was retired from the Hempfield Foundry. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Tarrs, and attended the New Stanton United Methodist Church. He was a life member of the Hunker Volunteer Fire Department. Friends will be received at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a memorial service will be held with the Rev. Ralph A. Mostoller and the Rev. Eric R. Detar co-officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Hunker V.F.D.
