James Ignatz Marshall, 92 of Lehi, passed away December 25, 2011. He was born on a farm 14 miles outside of Verdigre, Nebraska, a son of Edward Louis and Eldiva Armenia Pavlik Marshall. He married Ruth Noakes on January 26, 1946 in Vallejo, CA. They were married 65 years.

At age 22 he volunteered for the US Navy just after Pearl Harbor. He is a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam Wars. He served in the Aleutians, Solomons, Marshalls, and Peleiu Islands. He retired as a Machinist Mate Senior Chief. After his retirement from the Navy he went to work for the city of Richmond California as a Stationary Engineer for twenty one years. After he retired they moved to Orem, Utah in 1984 where they were member s of the Cherry Hill 3rd Ward. The last four years they have lived in Lehi. He had a great love for music and played the push button accordion in many nursing homes in the area.

He joined the LDS Church in October 1987 and was sealed to his wife and children a year later in the Salt Lake Temple. He loved to work at the temple and enjoyed being a scout leader at age 68.

Survivors include his wife, his children, Davy John (Melba) Marshall, Nena Lee (Glen) Carter, Eldiva Pearl (David) Howick, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and also a sister Darlene Volick. He is preceded in death by a brother and a sister Frank Marshall and Ellen Volkner.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St. in Orem. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and also Thursday from one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at the Veteran's Memorial Park in Bluffdale.
