Edward Pearlie "Ed" Isreal, 64, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville following an extended illness.
He was born on June 24, 1936, in Mullins, S.C. to the union of Paul and Cornetha "Lucky" Isreal. He has been a resident of Palatka since 1956. He was united in holy matrimony to the former Henri Ann Chester on Feb. 26, 1982. He visited several churches and in his earlier years attended Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. He was a loving and caring father with a warm heart towards everyone and enjoyed his many friends. He retired on Oct. 1, 1995, as foreman in the Water and Sewer Department for the city of Palatka following 20 years of dedicated service. His hobbies included fishing and just "sharing with his friends and loving his family."
In addition to his parents, his sister, Evelyn Isreal (Toy) Reaves; brother, Connie Isreal and son-in-law, Thomas McCants preceded him in eternity.
To cherish the precious memories include his devoted wife, Henri Ann Isreal, Palatka; four daughters, Valerie Isreal, Daytona Beach, Cornethia McCants, Palatka, V'Tosha Watkins, Folkston, Ga., Kimule Chester, Palatka; as a daughter, Angela D. Hardy, Palatka; seven brothers, Paul (Rose) Isreal, New Jersey, Earl Isreal, Millins, S.C., John C. Owens, Earnell Owens, Charles (Edna) Owens, all of Mullins, S.C., James (Bertha) Isreal, Rochester, N.Y., Bob (Rose) Owens, West Palm Beach; three sisters, Elouise Duncan, Janie Ruth Foxworth, Claudie Mae Godboat, all of South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Elouise Isreal, Barbara Jean Chester, both of Palatka; brother-in-law, John Henry Chester, Palatka; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; a host of nieces and nephews, including devoted niece, Malvoria Reaves, Hollister; cousins, other relatives and his friends and co-workers.
Homegoing service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Frederick T. Demps, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
