Tammy Ilene Lagle Cummins Rincon, GA

Tammy Ilene Lagle Cummins, 36, died April 9, 2008 at her family's residence in Rincon as she wished. The Indiana native was a member of Silk Hope Baptist Church and attended Grace Community Church. The author of Proverbs has written, "A good woman who can find? Her worth is far above rubies!" Tammy was a remarkably good woman! She did not author a famous book... she recorded her special wisdom in the lives of those around her. She did not seek high public office... she was a wife, a devoted and loving mother, a sister, a daughter and a granddaughter. Her worth was far above rubies. There are many things we will remember about Tammy. There was a boldness about the way she lived her life. There was a carefree style about her, even a hint of mischief in her nature. She was a strikingly attractive woman who loved beauty; in her appearance, in the decor of her home, in the world that surrounded her. She possessed an intuitive gentleness; so apparent in her treatment of her beloved children, her little dog, Lucy, her St. Bernards, her ducks and her geese. There was at times an iron determination within her you could not shake. There was also a lively sense of humor, a keen wit. That same courage was ever present, and ever admired again and again, as she struggled through her prolonged battle with cancer. From among her many virtues, the deepest, the most personal, the one that sustained her always, was that unwavering courage. In this hour, we are reminded of that courage. It is her greatest legacy. Even in her illness, she reached out to touch and brighten lives, to inspire others, to share beauty, love and courage. Today she bequeaths some of that courage to each of us.

Tammy is survived by her husband, Stephen D. Cummins of Salt Lake City; four children, step-daughter Jennifer Leigh Cummins of Luther, OK; step-son Michael Duane Cummins of Edmond, OK; son, Dillon James Schimmel of Charleston, SC; and daughter, Cody Bleu Cummins of Salt Lake City; brother, Damon Wayne Lagle of Rincon; step-sister, Andrea McCampbell of Indianapolis, IN; grandson, Wyatt James Briscoe of Luther, OK; mother and step-father, Roberta and Keith Walden of Rincon; father and step-mother, Tim and Tamara Lagle of Lyons, IN; grandmother, Nancy C. Arthur of Rincon; father and mother-in-law, Dr. D. Duane and Suzi Cummins of Oakland, MD; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
