Jack was born on April 25, 1931, at home in rural Williamson County, IL, the son Ova and Ethel (Reed) McGee.

He married Isidora "Dora" Mesas on September 18, 1954 in La Chapelle, France, and she preceded him in death on November 25, 2010 after 56 years of marriage. Together they raised their three children. On August 2, 2015, he married Jackie Barnes in Oak Grove Gospel Mission Church and she survives him.

A proud Army veteran of World War II and Korea, Jack had a strong work ethic and held a range of jobs in his lifetime. He first worked as a boiler operator for many years at U.S. Powder, then as a heavy equipment operator for Local 318, and lastly, as a truck driver. This determination and commitment to hard work were significant factors in shaping the admirable man he became.

Throughout his life, Jack was a faithful and active member of his community. He was a devoted member of Oak Grove Gospel Mission Church until it closed, where he served as a deacon, song leader, and trustee. After Oak Grove Church closed, he attended McKinney Chapel and Lone Oak Baptist Church.

A man of varied interests, Jack was an avid golfer and loved fishing, hunting, gardening, camping, and spending time at the Marion Senior Citizens' Center. There, he enjoyed shooting pool and playing Pinochle with his friends. He also loved to visit family and vacation in Florida, always eager for new adventures and experiences.

He is survived by his wife of eight years, Jackie Barnes of Marion, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Pete Lannom of Marion, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Lou Ann McGee of Patoka, IL; and son, Gary McGee of Dunnellon, FL. He was a proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, Mandi (Matt) Courson, Joshua Lannom (fiancé, Jessie Peradotto), Sarah Lannom, Misty (Jim) Philpot, Melissa (Mark) Elliott, Cody (Amber) McGee, Nathan McGee and Rachel McGee; nine great-grandchildren, Anthony Sieveking, Gracie, Saige, and Max Philpot, Gunnar, Huck and Briggs Elliott, and Rhyker and Izzadora McGee; his beloved dog, Delilah Jane; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.
