The insane man, Frank Harlan, who bit, kicked and rendered insensible Jailer Flannery, at Creston, died from the effects of his insanity and the excessive heat. He was very violent and with his loud cries drew a large crowd of people around the jail. He came from Hedrick, Iowa, and his body was sent there for burial. Ten years ago he escaped from Mt. Pleasant asylum and had been working at Falton for the past six months. The bite received by the jailer is a painful and dangerous wound.
