Dancer, choreographer and professor. He was one of the most important exponents of the modern dance in Cuba, disciple of the celebrated professor Ramiro Guerra. His style revolutionized the Cuban folk dance during the fifty last years and creator of several hits like "Suite Yoruba", "Súlkary", "Okantomi", "Tributo", "Duo a Lam", "Elogio de la Danza", "Destellos" and "Ceremonial de la Danza". In 1988 founded the "Teatro de la danza del Caribe" in Santiago de Cuba, and he retired as dancer in 1989. He was a creator of diverse companies as the National Performing of Granada, Company of Contemporary Dance Okantomi of Barcelona, the National Performing of Belize, and was a teacher of the National Company of Dance of Guyana, the National Dance Theatre Company and the National School of Dances, both of Jamaica. He also was professor of the 'Instituto Superior de Arte de la Habana' and received during his career the highest decorations of the Cuban State.
