OWENSBORO — Beverly Grider Parks, 86, of Owensboro died May 18, 2009, at Owensboro Medical Health System.

The Warren County native was born June 30, 1922. She was retired from the Owensboro School System having worked in the lunchroom at Foust Elementary School for 23 years. She was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She had been a volunteer for Friendship House and was a visitor to the shut-ins of the church and a prayer warrior. She was a graduate of Bowling Green High School, a Kentucky Wesleyan basketball fan and enjoyed listening to Joel Utley announce the games on the radio. She also enjoyed playing bunco with her group of lady friends. She was a daughter of the late David Grider and Loueen Pruden Grider and the wife of the late Willard T. Parks, who died July 14, 1985. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Midkiff, on Sept. 19, 2003.

Funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and begins at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Eaton Memorial Baptist Church in memory of Beverly Parks, 1225 W. Third St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Harmon and her husband, Scott, of Lake Charles, La.; a son, Ken Parks and his wife, Becky, of McDermott, Ohio; five grandchildren, Ginger Parks of Owensboro, David Parks of Bowling Green, Sarah Henderson and her husband, Nathan, of Moncks Corner, S.C., Rachel Harmon of Lake Charles and John Allen Midkiff of Tallahassee, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Parker Gene and Emma Rose Henderson; a brother, John D. Grider and his wife, Barbara, of Bowling Green; and several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
