Sister Melvina Guay, FCSCJ (S. Rose-Emile), a Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, died on Nov. 10, 2005, at Littleton NH) Regional Hospital. She was born in Champlain NY on May 23, 1918, the daughter of Philip Guay and Rosa Mousseau.

She professed her vows with her religious congregation on Aug. 9, 1938. During her 67 years of religious profession, Sister Rose-Emile served in missions in Newport VT; Champlain, Morrisonville, and Plattsburgh NY; and Colebrook and Littleton NH. Sr. Rose-Emile was a dedicated educator and librarian, many times combining community administration with her school duties. She was a leader as the local community superior, also functioning as provincial councilor for many years before being appointed as provincial superior of the U.S. Province from 1977 to 1983. After her years of administration, she became archivist for the U.S. Province at the Provincial House in Littleton.

Family members include her sister Alfreda Reid of Plattsburgh; brother Philip of Pennsylvania; many nieces and nephews; and her sisters in the religious community.
