DERRIGO — In the Mercy Hospital,
May 31, 1974, John Derrigo, Sr., of 197
Bellew Ave., aged 74 years. Funeral
10:30 a.m., Monday at Cleveland Spink
Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery.

Bellew Ave., died at 11:20
p.m. Friday in the Mercy Hospital emergency room, where
he had been taken after suffering an apparent heart attack at home.
Mr. Derrigo had sustained
a heart attack in May, 1970,
but had been active since.
The funeral will be 10:30
a.m. Monday at the Cleveland Spink funeral Home and 11
a.m. at St. Anthony's Church,
with Msgr. Anthony A. Milia
officiating. Burial will be in
Glenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to
9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 p.m.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sara Derrigo; three
daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Angeline) Marra and Mrs. Sam
(Laurita) Felice, both of Watertown, and Mrs. Philip (S.
Lucy) Priolo, Canton; seven
sons, Frank, Peter, Domenic
John, Jr., Rocco, Michael and
Joseph all of Watertown, the
last at home; a sister, Mrs
John Malatino, Watertown; 33
grandchildren, and five great
grandchildren.
Born Aug. 20, 1899, in Arasi, Province of Reggio Calabria; Italy, a son of Francesca
and Angelina Derrigo, he
came to the United States in
1921 after serving in the Italian Army in Italy in World
War I
....
He was married to the
former Sara Messina, of Watertown, on Oct 23, 1926, at
St. Anthony's Church by the
late Msgr. Claude Sechi.
In 1941, he opened his first
fruit stand at Henderson Harbor, and in 1943 moved the
business to its present location on Bellew Avenue. He
operated the fruit stand until
his retirement in 1964.
Mr. and Mrs. Derrigo also
owned and operated the Cobblestone Restaurant on the
Watertown-Adams Road from
January, 1954, to May, 1955,
when they sold it to the former owners, Mr. and Mrs. Peter
Ligammair.
He was a member of St.
Anthony's. Church and amn
honorary life member of the
Italian-American Civic Association.
