EARLVILLE, Iowa - Anthony "Tony" Puetz, 83, of Earlville, died after a short illness Sunday morning, Nov. 22, 1998, at Mercy Health Center St. Mary's Unit, Dyersville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Earlville, with the Rev. Frank Benda officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Temple Hill. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville, where there will be a rosary prayed at 4 p.m., and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Friends also may call after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Puetz farmed all of his adult life, retiring in 1986.

He was born on Feb. 3, 1915, in Worthington, son of Peter and Elizabeth (Warborg) Puetz. He married Therese Delaney on June 11, 1946, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Temple Hill.

He was a member of the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife, Therese; four sons, Peter (Casey) Puetz, of Waukesha, Wis., Paul (Anne) Puetz, of Lincoln, Neb., Roger (Susan) Puetz, of Lisbon, and Loras (Laurie) Puetz, of Manchester; 10 daughters, Rosemary (Roger) Recker, Veronica (Steve) Burnett and Paula (Matt) Bailey, of Earlville, Eileen Puetz, of Dyersville, Louise March, of Kansas City, Kathleen (Ronnie) Theis, of Dubuque, Dianne (Bill) Thomas, of Cedar Rapids, Anita (Morrie) Billmeyer, of Monticello, Valerie (Mike) Manternach, of Manchester, and Julie (Tim) Stoffel, of Fort Meyer, Fla.; 27 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; two sisters, Frances Deppe, of Bellevue, and Thresia Puetz, of Cascade; and a brother, Joseph Puetz, of Baldwin.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard, on May 22, 1965; two brothers; and three sisters.
