Charter Members of Lizton Methodist Church

The 1878 Atlas of Hendricks County provides the following information on the founding of the Lizton United Methodist Church: "The M. E. Church was the first to organize in the township. The class was formed at the house of Wm. Montgomery in 1833. Mr. Plummer, Salley Bargan, Claiborne Davis (probably Claborn Davidson) and John Pritchet formed the class with Mr. Montgomery as leader." Later 1832 was considered the founding year. Since no formal list of charter members exists, the above record forms the basis for this list which includes the wives of the men named.
