Tay Bridge Disaster

59 people met their death in one of the worst train disasters in Scotland's history. On December 28th, 1879, it was indeed a dark and very stormy night as a train known as the Edinburgh made its last stop before crossing the Tay Rail Bridge. At St. Fort tickets were collected and the train went off into a howling gale and a black night. It never made it to the other side of the bridge.
